1989 - Genesis by Sega challenges NES with its new superior 16-bit System.
1989 - Gameboy, the first handheld by Nintendo, premieres and dominates its competition Atari Lynx in the market.
1991 - Nintendo releases its 16-bit system, the Super NES.
1993 - Atari debuts their 64-bit system, the Jaguar, the first in the market.
1994 - In Japan, Sega releases Sega Saturn and Sony releases the Playstation.
1995 - Nintendo 64 debuts in Japan and the American version comes out a year later.
1998 - Sega debuts the Dreamcast game console in Japan and the American version comes out a year later.
2000 - In the United States, Sony Playstation 2 quickly sells out on the day of its launch!
